Dear Sir: Thank you for making Dutch Resistance hero’s names available. I found the 5 Kleist Family member names, from Apeldoorn. They were long-time friends of my family and I personally knew Aart J. Kleist and his wife Mekje. How do I access the entire list? I would like to see if Dutch members of my family helped the Resistance. I am especially interested in Vandergriff ( there are several spellings), Lubbertszen, Jans, Pouwelszen and Sjoerts are on your list. Dank U!

  4. Below is my fathers war service record obtained from the Dutch government. Where can I find further information of his service?. Is he entitled to any war service medals? Who is the Government Minister who is in charge of (Service) Medals. Is there a 1940-45 Resistance organisation who I can make contact with. I am arriving in Nederland from New Zealand in two weeks to research my fathers war service. Can
you assist me in my research in any way. Thank you.

  5. Dear Mr. Bouchier,
If you have not already done so, I suggest that you contact the Dutch Ministry of Defense (MOD) at https://english.defensie.nl/organisation/central-staff/contact. I am sure that they can refer you on to the correct department for any records you do not already have. You may want to plan a visit to the MOD at The Hague. There used to be a Dutch organization, made up of members of the Resistance, called “The Escape” but they are no longer functioning. Their files may be at NIOD. Another possible source of information is NIOD, formerly the Netherlands Institute for War Documentation, now the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust, and Genocide Studies in Amsterdam. See https://www.niod.nl/en. You will want to consult their Knipsel Collection of newspaper stories. Also ask to see the the files of Wim Willemsen, who was in the Resistance and a member of The Escape. The link to his files on NIOD is https://www.archieven.nl/nl/zoeken?mivast=0&mizig=210&miadt=298&micode=896&miview=inv2. Another possible source would be files of Stichting 1944-1945, a foundation that provided support after the war to members of the Resistance and their families. See https://www.st4045.nl/welkom. The Dutch Red Cross kept extensive files of correspondence about Dutch citizens who were in concentration camps or forced labor in Germany. I have found a lot of valuable information in them. Their files are now at NIOD. For other suggestions for research see the following page on this website: https://wwii-netherlands-escape-lines.com/faqs/faqs-resistance/.
    Best wishes,
