I compiled the following chronology in order to better keep track of what was occurring in the Smit-van der Heijden Line–who was doing what, where, and when. At times there were many arrests occurring at much the same time. Some that might appear not to have had any relation to the Smit-van der Heijden Line might actually have been related. Therefore, I included them. I used bold-facing of the names of people, places, and major organizations and events to make it easier to search for them. The listing of significant events in the war was included so that the reader could see what might have been influencing events in the occupied countries. There are several abbreviations that I used, including Hlvnbk (Hilvarenbeek), B-N (Baarle-Nassau), w/ (with), VDH (van der Heijden), JC (Josephus Cornelis van der Heijden), and SD (Sicherheitsdienst). I welcome any comments, corrections, or suggestions for improvement.
