Another source worth looking at is the book by John Nichol and Tony Rennell, Home Run, Escape from Nazi Europe, London: Penguin Books, 2008. See in particular the Appendix, Tips for Evaders and Escapers, Medical and Fieldcraft Hints (Issued by MI9 to escape and evasion lecturers, July 1944).
