Airmen Assisted by Joke Folmer 

The list below of 55 airmen helped by Joke Folmer represents only a fraction of the some 320 airmen credited to her.  Record-keeping was hazardous!  What I have typed up is intended to assist in an Internet search finding a listing: airman’s name, address, air force (USAAF or RAF), date shot down, and line number on the original three-page listing in Ms. Folmer’s helper file.

Following the list there is the three page table in pdf file format that I scanned from Ms. Folmer’s helper file and contains the full information for each airman. Note that escape and evasion  report numbers have been written in opposite the names of some of the airmen.  Use the number at the end of each typed listing for an airman to find the corresponding entry for him in the table.

  1. Hoort Reginald Samuel Giddey ook bij deze lijst? Hij maakte deel uit van het 467 Sdn en werd net als Guy en Shannon op 26 juni 1943 naar beneden gehaald. Hij werd door verraad van Prosper Dezitter op 8 augustus 1943 te Parijs gearresteerd. Dezitter maakte deel uit van het Comet netwerkwerk, maar was eigenlijk Vau-Mann van de Gestapo en de Abwehr. Welke rol speelde het Parool bij Fiat Libertas, het lijkt er namelijk op dat er connecties tussen beiden waren. Mogelijk via Henk Pelser? Verder waren ook Tobias Biallosterski en Rein Bangma betrokken bij het laten ontsnappen van piloten. Shannon en Giddey verbleven op zijn flat in Amsterdam, wachtende op transport via Rotterdam naar Belgie. Van Giddey heb ik zijn na-oorlogse verslag afgenomen door MI-9.
